Below are some frequently asked questions about providing CCAC information

Verification is a process used to verify certain information on the FAFSA to ensure its accuracy.

The Department of Education or CCAC may, at any time, select your application for verification based upon the information you provided. CCAC is required to make sure that all aid is awarded to students according to federal, state, and institutional regulations. If selected, the verification process must be completed before financial aid can be awarded.

It is the student’s responsibility to provide requested information so that the verification process can be completed in a timely manner.  Failure to complete the verification process may result in a student not being eligible for federal aid and will need other means to pay for classes.

  1. Why am I being asked for additional documentation and/or forms?
    The Department of Education or CCAC may, at any time, select your application for verification based upon the information you provided. 
  2. What if I don’t have my required attachments?  Can I still fill out the forms?
    Absolutely!  Although it is much easier to complete the form and attach any relevant documents at the time you are completing it, it is not necessary.  At CCAC we understand that you are eager to get the financial aid process started, so if the information we are asking for is not available at the time you are filling out a form you should submit it later though another medium (email, fax, or in-person)
  3. How do I provide attachments (i.e. tax returns, etc.) if I already submitted the form without them?

  4. I’m having trouble submitting these forms online, what are my other options for submitting forms and attachments?
    Contact the CCAC Financial Aid Office via phone 412-237-2222, email finacialaid@ccac.edu, or walk-in to one of our offices to get a form
  5. Can I complete this form on a mobile device?
    Yes!  These forms are mobile friendly, and you may be able to upload attachments.
  6. I already submitted these documents to another school, why is CCAC asking for them again?
    If your FAFSA is selected for verification, before a school can provide federal financial aid, they must complete their own review of the required forms and attachments.  CCAC cannot request documentation from a 3rd party or institution on your behalf.  
  7. Do I need my parent's information?  I don't know if I am an Independent or Dependent student?
    Your dependency status is based on the questions from the FAFSA. If you are unsure of your status, you can use the following link to help What is my Dependency Status? or contact the CCAC Financial Aid Office for assistance
  8. Where do I look to see if I have any required forms that CCAC is waiting on?

  10. How long does the process of looking at forms and attachments take?
    The process to review forms and attachments can take up to 7-10 business days
