The Master Promissory Note (MPN) is a legal document in which you promise to repay your loan(s) and any accrued interest and fees to the U.S. Department of Education. It also explains the terms and conditions of your loan(s). An MPN is good for up to 10 years unless certain conditions are present.
- Go to the Federal Student Aid website (https://studentaid.gov/)
- Click Log in to your account
- Enter your FSA ID and Password
- Click the Log In button
- Read the Disclaimer
- Click the Accept button
- Under Sign the Master Promissory Note Section, click on Complete MPN
- In the “I’m an Undergraduate Student” section, click on the Start button
- Check that pre-populated information showing is correct, and fill-in any necessary blank line items
- Click on the Continue button
- In “Choose a State,” type Pennsylvania
- in the “Search School by Name,” type Community College of Allegheny County
- Click on the Continue button
- Enter your Reference Information
- Please note the following information about your references:
- The first reference should be a parent or legal guardian.
- References must have different addresses and telephone numbers.
- References who live outside the United States are not acceptable.
- If the reference does not have a telephone number, or email address, or does not wish to provide an email address, enter N/A.
- Providing an email address for a reference is optional. If you provide an email address for a reference, we may use it to communicate with the reference.
- Please note the following information about your references:
- Click on the Continue button
- Read the MPN Agreement (pages 1 through 5)
- Review and Edit the information entered previously
- Click on the Continue button
- Read and Agree to the promise
- Enter your formal name into the name fields
- Click the Submit button
