The College computer equipment and network are intended for academic and business use. To protect our users and resources from either intentional or unintentional harm, URL filtering is installed.
Content that will be blocked:
| Academic Fraud | Sites that promote educational fraud, including but not limited to plagiarism and cheating. |
| Adware | Sites that distribute applications that display advertisements without the user's knowledge or choice. It does NOT include sites that serve to advertise. |
| Child Abuse Content (CAC) | Sites that contain child sexual abuse content. |
| Gambling | Sites that offer gambling or information about gambling. |
| Illegal Activities | Promoting crime, such as stealing, fraud, illegally accessing telephone networks; computer viruses; terrorism, bombs, and anarchy; websites depicting murder and suicide as well as explaining ways to commit them. |
| Illegal Downloads | Providing the ability to download software or other materials, serial numbers, key generators, and tools for bypassing software protection in violation of copyright agreements. Torrents are classified as Peer File Transfer. |
| Pornography | Anything relating to pornography, including mild depiction, soft pornography or hard-core pornography. |
| Tasteless | Sites that contain information on such subjects as mutilation, torture, horror, or the grotesque. Includes Pro-Anorexia and Pro-Suicide related sites. |
| Terrorism | Sites that promote terrorism or are linked with terrorist organizations. |
| Web Spam | Redirect targets containing unwanted sweepstakes/survey/advertisements for free merchandise, pharmaceutical spam or rolex distributions. |
The college reserves the right to add sites and categories without prior written notification when they fall into banned material.
The college recognizes that certain websites may need to be accessed for business or academic purposes. When a banned URL is needed there is a formal request process that will be utilized to review and if appropriate to allow that specific URL.
Occasional use of the Colleges resources for personal purposes has been tolerated during non-working hours.
Under no circumstances may company computers, other electronic devices or network resources be used to obtain, view or reach pornographic, gambling, or other unethical sites.
